Objective of Karma Sathi Scheme Prakalpa 2021
The state government conceptualized the new scheme following the instruction of the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The main purpose of the scheme is to make unemployed youths self-reliant.
- A new scheme “Karma Sathi Prakalpa” was launched by Bengal Government. One lakh unemployed youth will be provided soft loans and subsidies to make them self-reliant.

Official Launch of WB Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme 2021
The officials of the WB Cooperation department have already started taking necessary steps for proper execution of Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme. The new employment generation projects will help in ensuring the means of livelihood for the unemployed youths in the urban part of the state. At present, there are many scopes present for self employment generation and Karma Sathi Prakalpa will enable youths to take a step ahead in taking up projects to stand on their own feet.
GoWB launches a new scheme ‘Karma Sathi Prakalpa’ for the #youth. 1 lac youth can avail soft loans and other subsidies through this scheme. When the unemployment rate in the country is 24%, an all-time high, Bengal’s unemployment rate has reduced by 40%.
As per the proposal, around 3 lakh youths would be brought under Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme over the next 3 years. Each year, West Bengal govt. will provide loans of upto Rs. 2 lakhs to more than 1 lakh youths. Loans would be provided through Co-operative banks. Jobless youths can avail this facility to setup small manufacturing and trading activities.
Motorcycles to 2 Lakh Youth in West Bengal (Latest)
CM Mamata Banerjee led WB govt. is going to provide motorcycles to nearly two lakhs youths under the Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme. This decision was taken on 4 November 2020 to make youths self-reliant in starting their own business. WB Karma Sathi Scheme 2021 will help nearly 10 lakh people who are dependent on 2 lakh beneficiaries.
Each motorcycle will be fitted with a detachable box where the beneficiaries can keep and sell items. Youths can keep and sell items such as fruits, vegetables, clothes and other daily essentials. This will not only make them self-reliant but also benefit nearly 10 lakh people associated with them. In addition to this, beneficiaries will be provided with soft loans from state co-operative banks and the state government will assist them in the whole process.
Making of Self Reliant Youths in West Bengal
Karma Sathi Prakalpa Scheme aims to provide financial assistance and help to prospective young entrepreneurs. Soft loan and subsidy will be provided for taking up any new income-generating project in the manufacturing, service, and trading/business sector up to Rs 2 lakh. These loans will be provided by the State-owned Cooperative Bank on soft terms.
As per August 2020 statistics, the unemployment rate in the state was reduced by 40%. As per the report of the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), “The unemployment rate in West Bengal stood at 6.5% in June 2020, which was far better than country’s 11% figure, Uttar Pradesh’s 9.6% and Haryana’s 33.6%.”
