Rajasthan Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme 2021: Rajasthan government is going to start a new Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme 2021 for government school students. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced to provide free uniforms and textbooks under Back to School programme. This scheme would be helpful for students as the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak had a huge impact on school education. The previous academic year turned out to be a zero year and to bring education back on track, CM has announced Free Book and School Uniform Scheme in Rajasthan Budget 2021-22. Rajasthan Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme 2021
There would be 2 components under the Rajasthan Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme 2021 which is to be launched in the state of Rajasthan:-
- Free School Uniform Scheme – In this first component, the state govt. will provide free school uniforms to government school students upto class 8th.
- Free Textbook Scheme – In this second component, free books would be provided to govt. school students who are studying in class 6th, 7th or 8th.
Both these things namely school uniforms and textbook would be given under the Back to School programme of Rajasthan government. The state govt. will spend Rs. 470 crore for the successful implementation of Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme.
Back to School Programme in Rajasthan
Back to School programme will be launched to bridge the gap of learning intervals of the students under which study material will be provided to the students. The major objective of Back to School Programme in Rajasthan is to make students comfortable towards classes. Rajasthan Free Uniform / Textbook Scheme is an important initiative under the “Back to School programme.”
CM Ashok Gehlot has also mentioned that Smart TVs would be installed at all the government secondary and senior secondary schools and Kasturba Gandhi Residential schools of the state for digital learning of the students. In addition to this, agriculture subjects will be taught in over 600 government schools of the state.
Other Initiatives for Education in Rajasthan Budget 2021
Chief Minister Gehlot has announced to set up 1,200 new English medium Mahatma Gandhi schools in the next 2 years. There would be an increase in infrastructure facilities in schools, directorate of peace and non-violence, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Governance and Social Sciences in Jaipur, new colleges, including girls Sanskrit colleges and new it is, Rajiv Gandhi Centre of Advance Technology (R-CAT) at Jaipur, Science and Space Clubs in 1,500 government schools.
For the sports sector, the chief minister announced Major Dhyanchand Stadium Scheme for developing stadiums, an indoor stadium in Pratapgarh, new residential sports schools in Jodhpur and Jaipur, and development work at Jodhpur’s Barkatullah Khan Cricket Stadium and a new archery academy in Dungarpur and Handball academy in Jaisalmer, among other things.
Rajasthan Free Education Scheme for Girls (Update As on 22 January 2019)
Rajasthan government is going to provide free education for girls in all state-run academic institutions from the next academic year. The announcement about the Rajasthan Free Education Scheme for girls was given on official twitter handler of govt. of Rajasthan. The primary objective of this scheme is to raise the literacy rate of school girls in the state.
Rajasthan Fee Education Scheme has been announced after the launch of free coaching classes in 40 govt. colleges at Shiksha Sankul. The scheme to provide free education for girls in Rajasthan is going to be implemented from the next fiscal year. In its election manifesto, Congress party had promised to provide free education for girls in all governmental institutions in case of being voted to power.
Girls Free Education Scheme in All State Run Govt. Institutions
Free Education Scheme for girls in Rajasthan will provide free of cost education to girls in all state run institutions. This scheme is going to benefit all sections of the society particularly SC, ST, OBC and girls from poor sections of the society. Now all the girls from deprived sections of the society would be able to get high quality education in govt. schools. For this, govt. is also planning to recruit highly qualified teachers for govt. schools.
In addition to this, govt. will also setup complaint committees in colleges to ensure seamless and fearless environment for students. The state govt. will also provide free coaching to college students for the preparations of competitive exams and this has already been started in 40 colleges. This Free Coaching Facility is going to be rolled out in all the 252 govt. colleges.
Moreover, the colleges are also going to make stellar use of technology via biometric attendance of girls every morning. This technology will enable school authorities to send a message to guardians in the morning that their child has reached the college. Similar to this when the girls leave for college, guardians / parents of girls could send message a message that their child has left for college.

Rajasthan Free Education Scheme is a major step for the children to study and build their career. Subsequently, students would be able to earn their livelihood and can contribute to the growth of entire state. Punjab govt. also provides free education to girls from nursery to college level to enable education more accessible to girls from poorer background.
Other measures also includes pre-primary classes from nursery and lower kindergarten to open in govt. schools in next academic year. Govt. will also provide fee internet service in around 13,000 primary schools and 48 govt. colleges. Moreover, govt. will also provide free textbooks to students of govt. schools and will also post textbooks online which would remain available for students to download. The state govt. would also provide additional English coaching which is considered as weak point for students.
