Odisha government has launched a new Special House Repair Assistance Scheme 2022. Under this scheme, govt. performed cash transfer for repair of houses to PM Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY), Khani Anchal Pucca Ghar Yojana and Nirman Shramik Pakka Ghar Yojna (NSPGY) beneficiaries. CM House Repair Aid Latest Update
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 7 January 2022 distributed financial assistance of Rs. 3,000 to each beneficiary under Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY) towards repair of the houses. As many as 31 lakh families, who have received houses under the BPGY, will benefit from the total assistance of Rs. 1,444 crore. The money will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The state cabinet had taken the decision regarding the assistance at its meeting on 21 December 2021.
Addressing the event virtually, CM Naveen said that the state government had taken a policy decision at its first cabinet meeting after the 2014 election to convert all kutcha houses to pucca houses. Odisha government is working to fulfill the promise made in this regard and around 31 lakh families have been provided pucca houses since 2014. CM alleges that people are facing difficulties in getting houses under central schemes. Though houses in 14 districts were damaged in cyclone Fani in 2019, the affected people are yet to get any assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana till date.
CM stated that people in southern and western areas of the State are also facing difficulties in getting houses under Central schemes, the Chief Minister said that Rs. 5,000 each will be provided to these beneficiaries. Naveen assured that he will not allow needy people to suffer. “If you do not get houses under the Central scheme, the State government is with you,” he added.

Odisha govt. on 21 December 2021 (Tuesday) has announced Special House Repair Assistance Scheme. BJD govt. came up with direct cash benefit sops for beneficiaries of housing schemes that is going to touch around 30 lakh families in the state.

In a video message after presiding over a cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced special house repair assistance scheme. This scheme aims to transfer cash for beneficiaries under housing schemes of the state government like BPGY, NSPGY, Khani Anchal Pucca Ghar Yojana and those waiting to get a house under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Grameen (PMAY-G).

The one-time financial assistance will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Around 30 lakh families will benefit from Odisha Special House Repair Assistance Scheme. The cash amount for house repair in Odisha will be as follows:-

Budget Allocation for Odisha Home Repair Assistance Scheme
The state government will bear the additional burden of Rs. 1,444 crore for implementation of Odisha Special House Repair Assistance Scheme. The amount will be met from the budget of Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. Stating that Covid-19 has hit people of the state hard and many of them do not have money for repair of their houses, the Chief Minister said the assistance announced by the government will help those in need.
CM Naveen Patnaik said efforts by Odisha state government are on to get houses under the central schemes for eligible beneficiaries. However, if the central government does not accept the demand, the state government will take steps to provide houses to the deprived people from its own housing schemes.
Need for Odisha Housing Repair Assistance Scheme
CM Naveen Patnaik stated that shelter security of people is a prime focus area of the government as the state faces natural calamities like cyclone and flood every year. Chief Minister said that a decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting in 2014 to convert all kutcha houses to pucca dwellings. Since the launch of BPGY in 2014, the state government has spent Rs. 22,000 crore on the Biju Pakka Ghar Yojana scheme.
The Chief Minister said the state government has launched several schemes for providing houses to the beneficiaries from its own resources. Besides, it also provides nearly half of the funds for the PMAY-G. He said many eligible beneficiaries are waiting to get a house under the Central scheme despite his repeated appeals.
