These accidental insurance schemes are necessary as India is one of the worst-performing countries when it comes to the casualties caused due to road accidents. Earlier, PM Modi had also launched Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana to provide accidental insurance cover to road accident victims. PMSBY scheme ensured financial aid to the families of those deceased in road accidents and critically injured people in return of annual premiums.
