Telangana Arogya Lakshmi Scheme 2021 – Nutritious Meal to Pregnant / Lactating Women / Children below Age of 6 Years

Telangana government is implementing Arogya Laxmi Scheme 2021 in which govt. provides one nutritious meal every day to pregnant and lactating women and children below the age of 6 through Anganwadi centres. The Telangana Arogya Lakshmi Scheme was launched officially on 1 January 2015 by Honourable Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao. The scheme is an improved version of Amrutha Hastham. In this article, we will tell you about the complete details of the Telangana Aarogya Lakshmi Scheme.

For the women, 200 ml of milk for 25 days a month and one egg each day will be given with meal. Children, aged between seven months and three years are provided with 16 eggs a month in addition to a 2.5 kg food packet. For children aged between 3 and six years, one egg a day in addition to rice, dal, vegetables and snacks is supplied.

Telangana Arogya Lakshmi Scheme 2021 – Latest Update

Telangana government has spend an estimated Rs. 1110.89 crore on the Aarogya Lakshmi scheme till August 2021. The state government is providing nutritious food to pregnant women, nursing mothers and children in the state. Under the supervision of the chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Aarogya Lakshmi scheme was introduced on 1 January 2015 to check malnutrition and anaemia among women and children.

“As part of the scheme, the state government provides 200ml of milk, one egg and one meal per day to pregnant women, new mothers and children. She added that the scheme also provides 16 eggs in a month to each children aged between 7 months and 3 years, whereas 30 eggs are given to  children aged between 3 years and 6 years åt Angadwadi centres,” she added.

Telangana Arogya Lakshmi Scheme has covered an estimated of 4,65,805 pregnant women and new mothers, 10,43,419 children aged between 7 months and 3 years, while also providing benefits of the scheme to around 6,74,336 children of age group of 3-6 years. The quantity of food items supplied under the scheme has also been increased across all the categories.

Objectives of Telangana Arogya Laxmi Scheme

Here are the main objectives which are expected to be achieved through the successful implementation of Telangana Arogya Lakshmi Scheme:-

  • Enhance the quality and acceptability of supplementary nutrition by the Pregnant and Lactating women.
  • Ensure food supplied is consumed by only the Pregnant and Lactating women rather than the whole family.
  • Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women consume 90+ IFA tablets.
  • Improve the enrollment of mothers at Anganwadi Centers (AWCs).
  • Eliminate or decrease number of Pregnant and Lactating women with anaemia/ who are undernourished.
  • Reduce the incidence of low birth babies and malnutrition among children.
  • Ensure that Pregnant and Lactating women receive health check ups and immunization.
  • Reduce the incidence of infant mortality and maternal mortality

Operational guidelines for Arogya Lakshmi Scheme in Telangana

Government after careful examination hereby issue “Operational Guidelines” for One Full Meal Programme for improving nutritional status among Pregnant and Lactating Women and to reduce low birth weight and mortality of infants and children under 6 years.
