Central government has launched Senior Able Citizens for Re-Employment in Dignity (SACRED) portal at sacred.dosje.gov.in. New online IT job portal developed for elderly people is steered by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E). SACRED Portal Registration Link for Senior Citizens is now functional to bring employment seeker senior citizens and employment providers on a single platform.
What is SACRED Portal for Senior Citizens
A unique & innovative technology-driven Employment marketplace, to bring together both Job providers & Job seekers on a transparent online portal, where Private & Public sector enterprises across sectors can share their demand for human resources, and also help Senior experienced citizens having diverse & relevant skillsets, to get themselves registered for visibility of the emerging workplace demands, and apply for relevant job opportunities.
Those above 60 years of age can apply online at employment exchange for senior citizens to search jobs. The SACRED online job portal aims to devise ways to ensure Senior Citizens live healthy, happy, empowered, dignified and self-reliant life. How SACRED Online Job Portal for Senior Citizens Works
A senior citizen can make registration on SACRED portal with his education, experience, skills and areas of interest. Any job provider, be it an individual, firm or organization, can make registration on SACRED portal, specifying the task involved and the number of senior citizens required. Organisations will help the senior citizens in applying for jobs free of charge. SACRED employment portal will serve senior citizens seeking employment. In addition, employers, SHGs, senior citizens gaining skills, and other agencies/ individuals would also be able to apply online through SACRED portal registration link.
Rs. 10 crore has been provided for SACRED platform development along with a maintenance grant of Rs. 2 crore per year for 5 years. Expenditure would be incurred on an actual basis. Another Rs. 10 crore would be spent annually for publicity of SACRED portal.
Need for Launch of SACRED Portal for Senior Citizens
There has been a steady rise in the population of senior citizens in India. The number of elderly persons increased from 1.98 crore in 1951 to 7.6 crore in 2001 and 10.38 crore in 2011. As per the Report of the Technical Group on Population Projections for India and States (2011-2036) submitted to National Commission on Population, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the population of senior citizens in India is projected as details given below: –
- 2011:- Population – 10.38 crore (8.66%)
- 2021:- Population – 13.76 crore (10.1%)
- 2026:- Population – 16.28 crore (11.4%)
- 2031:- Population – 19.34 crore (13.1%)
- 2036:- Population – 22.74 crore (14.9%)
With general improvement in healthcare facilities over the past few years, there is increase in proportion of population of senior citizens. To ensure that senior citizens not merely live longer, but lead a secure, dignified and productive life is a major challenge. Traditional norms and values of Indian society laid stress on showing respect and providing care for the aged. But in recent times, society is witnessing a gradual but definite decline of the joint family system. As a result of this, a large number of parents are being neglected by their families exposing them to lack of emotional, physical and financial support.
Older persons are facing a lot of problems in the absence of adequate social security. This reveals that ageing has become a major social challenge and there is a need to provide for the economic and health needs of the elderly and to create a social milieu, which is conducive and sensitive to the emotional needs of the elderly. An active senior citizen feels alone without having work at home although equally competent to work and provide services as mature challenger.
Therefore, the challenge is to devise ways to build a society for Senior Citizens across the nation where they can live healthy, happy, empowered, dignified and self-reliant life. Along with this, senior citizens must have strong social and inter-generational bonding by involving society at large specially by involving following stakeholders to provide an opportunity for employment to the older persons:-
- Private firms / Corporates
- Educational institutions
- Government Sectors and local Bodies for consultancy services
- The Non-Profit, Non-Governmental Associations, Societies /Trusts etc
- The Media and finally the Public at large
More than 50% senior citizens are found active as per the LASI report 2020. Many senior citizens having experience, time and energy can be used by the business enterprises looking for stable employees with experience. The Human resources cells of many private enterprises seek experienced but stable persons in certain positions. The portal allows bringing these people together by virtual matching of preferences.
Scope of SACRED Employment Exchange Portal for Senior Citizens
- An IT portal to bring the employment seeker senior citizens and employment providers on one platform will be developed and maintained by an agency identified through a transparent process.
- An individual senior citizen will get oneself registered on the portal with his relevant education, past experience, skills and the areas of interest. The person will also select keywords regarding expected tasks, which will enable the job providers find them automatically. Details can be updated by the Senior citizens.
- Any job provider – individual / firm/ company/ partnership/ Voluntary Organisation etc. can also register on the portal. The job provider will specify the task involved and the number of senior citizens that are required to complete it.
- Voluntary Organizations will help the senior citizens in applying for these jobs. No user charges will be taken from any of the senior citizens by any Voluntary Organizations. Therefore, the Employment Portal will serve not only the senior citizens seeking employment, but also the employers, the SHGs, the senior citizens gaining skills, and other agencies/ individuals.
- The Employment Exchange Portal will not be a guarantee for getting a job/ employment or selling of the products of the SHGs, or for any other activity. It will act as an interactive platform where stakeholders meet each other virtually and decide on the course of action with mutual respect, consent and understanding.
- Any individual/ firm/ company/ agency will seek the services of the senior citizens in respect of those tasks where experience can naturally outweigh hiring new personnel and providing them training, etc. Example can be short term employment, contract for a project, teaching, counselling jobs. The Employer and the employee may extend their partnership beyond the short term, too, on mutual consent and respect basis.
SACRED Portal Registration 2021 / Login for Senior Citizens
STEP 1: Firstly visit the official website at https://sacred.dosje.gov.in/
STEP 2: At the homepage, click at the “Register” button or directly click https://sacred.dosje.gov.in/register.php.
STEP 3: Then the SACRED Portal Sign Up page for Company / Firm will open as shown below:-
STEP 4: Select the “Senior Citizen” registration link to open the SACRED Portal Registration Form for Senior Citizens. (Note that any voluntary organization can also register by clicking “Voluntary Organisation (NGO)” link). The Sacred portal registration form for senior citizens will open as shown below:-
STEP 5: Here applicants can enter name, e-mail ID, contact number, password, state, city, work experience, domain, skills to complete the SACRED Portal Registration for senior citizens.
STEP 6: After making registration, click at the “Login” button or directly click https://sacred.dosje.gov.in/login.php to make SACRED Portal login.
STEP 7: Enter email ID and password and click at “Submit” button to make Sacred Portal Login for Senior Citizens.
Search Jobs at SACRED Employment Exchange Portal
After applying online at SACRED Employment Exchange portal, senior citizens seeking work opportunities will be able to bag jobs. Elderly people can apply and even search jobs at SACRED employment exchange portal. To search job, senior citizens can enter job title, search title, city and click at “Search” tab.
SACRED portal will help Indians above 60 years of age to find jobs easily, right at the comfort of their homes. The portal is operated by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJ&E’s). Any job provider – individual, firm, company, partnership, and voluntary organisation can also register on SACRED portal. Job provider will specify the task involved and the number of senior citizens that are required to complete it.
Modalities: SACRED portal is developed through NIC. There will be adequate publicity both among elders and enterprises to enroll on the portal.
Cost: An amount of Rs. 10 Cr would be provided for funding for the platform development along with maintenance grant of @ Rs. 2 Cr per year for 5 years.
