Swachh App, an Android and Windows Phone application has been launched to track real time sanitation coverage. The application has been launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. This Swachh App serves as a tool to monitor the improvements in sanitation coverage in rural India, on a real time basis. Anybody can download it on their smartphone and view the the number of Household Toilets constructed for beneficiaries of the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin programme of the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India.
Also, one can select the State, District, Block and Gram Panchayat name and get the number of toilets constructed in the selected area/locality. Swachh Manch Web Portal (swachhmanch.in) | Ease of Living Index by MoHUA
Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had launched Swachh Manch Web Portal and Ease of Living Index on 10 August 2018. Parallelly, a slew of new initiatives like Swachh Survekshan and ODF+ & ODF++ Protocols were also be launched under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). Central government had webcast the event live for states and cities to witness the launches from across the country. Ease of Living Index Dashboard enable the people to compare and analyse the performance of various liveability parameters. Swachh Manch Web Portal and Ease of Living Index are the 2 most important parameters to fulfill the PM Narendra Modi’s dream of Swachh Bharat (Clean India) till 75th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Details of Swachh Manch Web Portal
Central govt. had launched an initiative named Swachh Manch Portal. This is a web-based platform to bring together each and every stakeholder to contribute towards the Swachh Bharat Mission under a common platform. This platform allows stakeholders to create, invite and participate in various volunteer opportunities around their neighborhoods. People can access the Swachh Manch Web Portal at http://www.swachhmanch.in/
All the citizens and participating organizations can now upload the photo evidence on this Swachh Manch portal. This portal also contain the records of number of hours which a citizen has volunteered. This serve as an acknowledgement of citizens / organizations on the cause of “Swachhata”. Swachh Manch Portal is integrated with the already existing Swachhata App. It act as a Citizens Grievance Redressal platform to hear the complaints and provide solutions to the people.
Ease of Living Index Details
Central govt. had also launch Ease of Living Index along with an Ease of Living Index dashboard. The important features of highlights of ELI Program are as follows:-
- In this initiative, govt. to provide national ranking of 111 cities.
- ELI Dashboard to give ranking to the cities across pillars, category, geographical zones and population classifications.
- Ease of Living framework will include 4 pillars – Institutional, Social, Economic and Physical. These pillars will be further classified into 15 categories and 78 indicators.
- ELI dashboard will also comprise of a feature to compare and analyse the performance of cities on the basis various liveability parameters.
- Ease of Living Index initiative of MoHUA will help cities to assess their liveability conditions through global and national benchmarks.
- The ease of living index also encourage cities to move towards an “Outcome Based Approach” to urban planning and management.
Ease of Living assessment standards are related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This will provide boost to India’s effort to systematically track the progress of SDGs in urban areas.
Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya Initiative
Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya was the national campaign driving ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’. A key feature of the campaign was to ensure that every school in India has a set of functioning and well maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. Water, sanitation and hygiene in schools refers to a combination of technical and human development components that are necessary to produce a healthy school environment and to develop or support appropriate health and hygiene behaviours.
The technical components include drinking water, hand washing, toilet and soap facilities in the school compound for use by children and teachers. The human development components are the activities that promote conditions within the school and the practices of children that help to prevent water, hygiene and sanitation related diseases. Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar Apply Online Process (Earlier Update)
In 2014, The Ministry of Human Resource Development launched “Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya” (SBSV) to ensure that all schools throughout the country have access to separate toilets for boys and girls. This initiative lays emphasis on promoting safe and secure hygiene practices among children in the schools of the country. The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar website is now not live.
The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar was a good initiative to determine the health of children and to secure and protects them from illness and exclusion. The facilities of water, sanitation and hygiene in the school provides a healthy school environment for children’s and teachers. All the essential elements which were categorized under Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar were water, sanitation and hygiene in schools, hand-washing with soap, operations and maintenance, behavior change activities and capacity building.
Online Registrations for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
The ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) invited online applications for the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar. The awards were given to all winner government and private schools in both rural & urban areas across the country. Interested schools had to apply online through the official website www.swachhvidyalaya.com.
Registration for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2017-2018 was started from 1st September 2017 and the last date of registration was 31st October 2017. Interested schools were able do online registration easily using the simple steps given below
STEP 1: Visit on the official website of Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar.
STEP 2: Then click on “Apply” tab in the main menu of the website.
STEP 3: Afterwards, click on the Option B : Fill “Online Survey” link to open the online registration/application form.
STEP 4: The Swachh Vidyalayan Puraskar registration form appears as shown below.
STEP 5: Fill all the information as accurate as possible as required in the registration form.
STEP 6: Now click on the “Submit” button to complete the registration.
STEP 7: After clicking the “Submit” button, a password is sent on the entered mobile number.
STEP 8: After receiving the password, candidate have to enter the U-DISE Code and password for Login.
STEP 9: For completing the online application/registration process, schools have to fill all the 6 sections of the online survey form.

Swachh Vidyalaya Android Mobile App
The schools were able to download the Swachh Vidyalaya mobile app from Google Play Store or by giving a missed call on 07097298093 to get links on mobile phone. Online registrations for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar were also invited using the mobile app.
Categories of Awards
These awards were categorized at the District, State and National level:-
- District Level Awards: Open to All Green, Blue and Yellow Rated Schools
- State/UT Level Awards: Open for Green and Blue Rated Schools
- National Level Awards: Open to only Green Categories
However, the registration of schools was done with the U-DISE code of the school. Suppose If you schools does not had a UDISE-Code, then they had to download the Data Capture Format (DCF) and submit at Block / District / State level office to generate the U-DISE Code. Moreover, all the candidates had to read the instructions very carefully before filling the online survey form.
