Five Star Village Postal Scheme 2021 Launched in Uttarakhand

Five Star Village Postal Scheme 2021 had been launched in Uttarakhand on 1 December 2020. Union Minister of state for education, communications, electronics & IT, Sanjay Dhotre has reviewed the functioning of the Uttarakhand Postal Circle. In order to ensure that India Post Office schemes must reach the remotest of the villages and every citizen of this country, govt. has launched 5 Star Village Yojana. The concerned officers and staff are diligently working to ensure universal coverage of flagship postal schemes in rural areas of the state.

Five Star Village Postal Scheme 2021

In an effort to reach every household with flagship India Post Office schemes, govt. has announced to setup 50 five star villages in Uttarakhand. All these villages will get the benefits of important India Post Office beneficiary schemes in the Five Star Village Postal Scheme.

List of Schemes Converging in Five Star Village Postal Scheme

The govt. have identified fifty villages and each household of these village will be brought under the five different schemes namely:-

1. Postal Life Insurance (PLI)
2. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
3. India Post Payment Bank (IPPB)
4. Public Provident Fund (PPF)
5. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana

Uttarakhand circle has covered 62% of the total eligible girl child in Sukanya Samridhi Abhiyan. The Uttarakhand state stands next only to Himachal Pradesh. A total 3,98,576 SSA accounts have been opened in the Uttarakhand circle.

Launch of 5 Star Village Postal Scheme

The Indian Post Office branches setup in various parts of the country cares for its customers. Sanjay Dhotre, union minister of state for communications and human resource development has distributed cheques of unclaimed amounts to some of the eligible account holders as a mark of launch of 5 Star Village Postal Scheme. He also distributed Sukanya Samirdhi Yojana passbooks, ATM cards and saving bank passbooks to the beneficiaries of Senior Citizens Welfare Fund Scheme. He even interacted with Senior Citizens customers and understand their expectations from India Post Office.

Sanjay Dhotre mentioned in a tweet that “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a great opportunity to build a secure future for our daughters. Uttarakhand Postal Circle has done appreciable work in opening such accounts. Pleased to distribute passbooks to such girl children account holders in the state today.”

Implementation of Five Star Village Postal Scheme

Union Minister Sanjay Dhotre has also chaired the review meeting of Uttarakhand postal circle at Dehradun’s general post office. The govt. appreciates the work of postal services during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown period. Initially, fifty villages have been selected from seven districts including four from Kumaon and three from Garhwal region.

List of 5 Star Villages in Uttarakhand

The selected districts includes Almora, Chamoli, Nainital, Pauri, Tehri, and Pithoragarh. All these districts have seven village each where the Five Star Village Postal Scheme will be implemented. Meanwhile, Dehradun district has eight villages nominated for five-star village postal scheme. Postal department is competing with other banking services. Now, people can even use the post office as the post payment bank and avail Aadhaar enrolment service in every post office.
