2nd Khelo India University Games 2021 Registration / Schedule / Games List – KIUG Second Edition in Karnataka

Central government is going to start 2nd Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2021. The second edition of pan India Khelo India University Games is scheduled to start later this year. The games will be held in Bengaluru’s Jain University and other venues in the state, in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). This event would be based on the lines of Khelo India School Games & Khelo India Youth Games. Last year, 1st edition of KIUG was organized at Bhubaneswar in Odisha which becomes a success. Now the Sports Ministry has selected the Karnataka state to host big sporting events. Various sporting events would be organized in KIUG 2021 for 9 days aiming to identify and nurture young talent.

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju is confident that the 2nd edition of Khelo India University Games (KIUG) scheduled for later this year is going to be a “grand success“. Karnataka will be hosting the second edition of the Khelo India University Games (KIUG). The announcement was made on 21 February 2021 by the Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa and Rijiju.

Participating Athletes List (University Wise) in Khelo India University Games 2021

The first edition of KIUG was held in Bhubaneswar in February 2020, and saw a total participation of 3,182 athletes in the U-25 age group, across 158 universities and colleges from all states. This year, Yogasana and Mallakhamb have been added to the University Games, in an effort to preserve and promote the century-old sporting disciplines of the country.

With the inclusion of these disciplines, the athlete participation figure is expected to cross 4000 this year. Also, the games will be conducted in the U-25 age category in accordance with the World University Games norms. The 2nd Khelo India University Games (KIUG 2021 Karnataka) will comprise of more than 4,000 athletes from around 150+ universities apart from technical and supporting staff. KIUG 2021 Karnataka Venue Details

KIUG is the largest University Games tournament in the country, and is aimed at tapping sporting talent who can represent India in international events, including the Olympics. The candidates can test and compare their sporting talent level against the various competitors across India. The main objective is to create culture of sports in community, build the value of sports in the higher education sector and contribute to a healthy and FIT society.

The 2nd Khelo India University Games (KIUG) is going to be organized by the Karnataka govt. in association with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Association of Indian Universities, National Sports Federation and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and other participating universities. KIUG second edition would be focused on identification of talented athletes and nurture talent through guidance and developed infrastructure.
