UP New Employment Umbrella Scheme 2020-2021 (Navin Rojgar Chhatri Yojana) for SC / ST by Yogi Adityanath

UP Navin Rojgar Chhatri Yojana or New Employment Umbrella Scheme for scheduled castes (SC) is launched by UP CM Yogi Adityanath. This scheme aims towards an all round development of the SC category people. Uttar Pradesh government has also transferred a financial assistance of Rs. 17.42 crore online to 3,484 people under Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Swarojgar Yojana. CM himself interacted with some beneficiaries from Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Basti, Meerut, Azamgarh and Moradabad districts through video conferencing.

CM Yogi Adityanath mentioned that the entire Indian nation is badly affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic outbreak. The subsequent lockdown and unlock process has made things difficult in the economic field but has also affected other sectors. Economic equality becomes the basis of social equality. The society with one of its sections becoming strong while another remaining weak will not be able to become self reliant. So, there is a necessity to strike out balance in the society even at the economic level.

During the online VC, the beneficiaries of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadyay Swarozgar Scheme informed CM Yogi that they will use the money for setting up general merchant shops, laundry and dry cleaning, cybercafe and tent house. Under the difficult circumstances due to COVID-19, the UP state govt. is extending financial help to make people self dependent. Moreover, govt. is also committed towards providing employment to labourers.

CM Yogi Adityanath launched the Navin Rojgar Chhatri Yojana to provide employment opportunities to benefit SC / ST families. This New Employment Umbrella Scheme would benefit households belonging to SC/ST category. A subsidy amount of Rs. 17.42 crore was also transferred into the accounts of 3,484 BPL families under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Self Employment Scheme. UP govt. believes that if the SC/ST community can be uplifted economically to join mainstream society then nobody will try and discriminate against them.

UP New Umbrella Employment Scheme Beneficiaries

In the UP New Employment Umbrella Scheme, funds were transferred to 1,77,491 beneficiaries. At the official launch of New Employment Umbrella Scheme through VC, CM Yogi interacted with beneficiaries from various districts. He was told that beneficiaries will use received funds to setup grocery shops, cyber cafes, laundry and dry cleaning, tailoring shops, tent house and purchasing generator sets. Uttar Pradesh govt. has set a target of benefiting 7.5 lakh families under New Employment Umbrella scheme in 2020-2021.

As of now, the state govt. has only managed to link only 1,77,491 beneficiaries with the Navin Rojgar Chhatri Yojana due to the Covid-19 pandemic. A big task lies ahead of the social welfare department to connect more than 6 lakh families by the end of FY 2021. CM said that govt. should try and link 10 lakh families with this New Umbrella Employment Scheme before the year end.

Atmanirbhar Loans to Poor People

CM Yogi Adityanath has also directed bank officials to provide loans to people to make them financially strong. There are around 18,000 bank branches in Uttar Pradesh. If each bank branch provides loans to just 2 people then there would be 36,000 beneficiaries straight away. UP govt. is laying major emphasis on the implementation of Atmanirbhar Bharat Scheme. As a part of this, UP state govt. has already started Atmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rojgar Abhiyan in addition to the New Employment Umbrella Scheme.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started several schemes to help the needy. Free grains were given by both the Centre and the state and in a month duration, food was given 2 times to the poor people. Free gas was given to 1.9 crore beneficiaries for 6 months. Funds were released under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana while 3.5 crore families received Rs. 500 a month in their Jan Dhan Accounts.
